Amanda Lea Perez is the Substitute Art Librarian at Queens College Library and a recent graduate from Rutgers University. With a background in photography and publishing, she has worked as a picture researcher for such publications as The Art Newspaper, Artnet News, and Atlas Obscura. Additionally, she has photographed on assignment for The New York Observer, Time Magazine, and The Washington Post Sunday Magazine. Ms. Perez is an avid reader of contemporary fiction and was fortunate to work with the Special Collections Librarian on the launch of the Philip Roth Personal Library in Newark, New Jersey, home to Philip Roth's unique collection of acquired literature from the 1940s until his death in 2018. As a lifelong volunteer, Ms. Perez is dedicated to serving her community alongside New York Cares; in 2018, she was awarded a Certificate of Recognition for outstanding volunteer efforts from the City of New York's Mayoral Service Recognition Program, as well as the President's Volunteer Service Award from The White House. Well-versed in media studies and the visual arts, Ms. Perez looks forward to helping Queens College students and faculty with their information needs. She is currently pursuing research in food studies and its relation to art and history.
