The MicroscoPy is an amazing project from the folks at IBM that builds an incredibly capable high-definition digital microscope from open-source technology: the Raspberry Pi, an Arduino, and Python software. Oh and some 3D-printed parts and LEGOs for fun!
The video below shows the assembly process, and the project is a great use of platforms like Github for hosting all the code & documentation files (including a remarkably detailed and beautiful step-by-step PDF of the build process). Check it out!
