Fines & Service Fees

Due dates are stamped into each book on or near the page facing the rear cover. The Library does not send overdue notices unless you provide a valid email address. It is the patrons responsibility to return materials on time.

Effective January 6, 2014 all CUNY Faculty will be responsible for paying library overdue fines in addition to any other library fees. This decision was made by the CUNY Board of Trustees — for more information see the Revision of the City University Tuition and Fee Manual.

Overdue fines:
Twenty-Five cents per item per day including days when the library is closed.
Recall and Rush Recall:
Fifty cents per item per day for recall. One dollar per item per day for a rush recall.
Lost books:
Replacement fee: ACTUAL COST; Processing fee: $25.00; Max. Overdue fine $20.00.

Processing fee and overdue fine for billed item(s) still apply even if books are returned.

Renewals will not be granted if:

  1. The item has a hold/recall.
  2. The renewal limit has been reached.
  3. There is a block on the borrower's record.
  4. The materials are non-renewable

Please note that if a renewal request is not honored because of a hold, a recall will be placed on the item. A recalled item must be returned promptly. HIGHER FINES ACCRUE ON RECALLED ITEMS.

Online Renewals

You may renew your materials online through the MY ACCOUNT feature of the CUNY Catalog, CUNY's online catalog. Just click on the MY ACCOUNT link on this page, or click on the MY ACCOUNT tab once you have entered the new CUNY Catalog.

Phone renewals cannot be accepted.

Returns & Overdues

You may return items through the return slots at the circulation desk. Please note that if the item is overdue and you would like to pay the fine, you must return it directly to the clerk at the Circulation desk. When the Library is closed, you can place materials in the depository located outside the Library's main entrance.

Any item overdue for more than seven (7) days will result in a suspension of borrowing privileges until item is returned or renewed.

You may place a hold on any book that's charged out. When it is returned, you will be notified and the book will be held for you at the circulation desk for ten days.
