Biography

Professor Subash Gandhi has been an Associate Professor & Science Librarian at Queens College since 1997. He possesses an excellent combination of an MS degree in Earth & Environmental Science (Geology) and another Master’s degree in Library & Information Science from the University of Western Ontario, London (Canada) followed by extensive experience in academic and public libraries. Before joining Queens College he worked in leading university libraries in Canada, Kuwait, and India, as well as on a United Nations Development Program assignment.

Besides his main responsibilities as library liaison to Chemistry, Physics, Earth & Environmental Sciences, and Biology departments & science bibliographer, he also regularly teaches advanced library instruction to science students and researchers, English 110, and Library 100 classes. In addition, he conducts library research sessions for small groups and offers research consultations to graduate students for SciFinder Scholar, ScienceDirect and Web of Science databases.

His current research interests include scholarly communications & Open Access in science areas, graduate student research, digital archives, research metrics, and analyzing Journal Citation Reports.  Prof. Gandhi has also published 8 research articles on a variety of topics in scholarly journals. He served as a Research fellow on an Exchange Program between CUNY and the University of Shanghai during the Fall 2010 semester.
